Deductibility of expenses incurred for COVID – 19 tests

  • The government confirmed that a new legislation would be introduced to allow individuals to claim the expenses incurred towards work-related COVID – 19 tests.
  • It is also stated that this legislation will ensure the employers are not impacted by the FBT provisions when they provide COVID – 19 testing to their employees for work-related purposes.
  • This will take effect from the beginning of FY2021-22 retrospectively and will be in place permanently.

 

Program Eligibility

2022 Small Business Support Program

  • Eligible Businesses with a turnover within the range of $75K – $50M.
  • Should have experienced a turnover decline of 40% in January 2022 and the 1st fortnight of February 2022.
  • Employees are to be paid within the range of $500 – $5,000/week.
  • Employing Businesses to receive a subsidy of 20% of weekly payroll as a lump sum for February 2022.
  • Non – Employing Businesses to receive a subsidy of $500/week, which is to be paid as a lump sum of $2,000.
Expansion to Small Business Fees and Charges rebates
  • The existing rebate will be increased to $3K from $2K in late March 2022
  • Eligible Businesses will be able to use this rebate against the cost of RT – PCR tests as well.
Extension to Commercial Landlord Hardship Grant
  • This has been extended up to 13th March 2022.
  • Grants of $3K are available for eligible landlords who have provided rental waivers to affected tenants.
Extension to NSW Performing Arts Relaunch Package
  • This has now been extended up to 30th April 2022.
